Folder Containing a Copy of Each of Charles Van Sandwyk's Bookmarks and Business Cards To-Date [Each Signed Individually].

Vancouver: Charles Van Sandwyk Fine Arts, [2013], Unpublished collection contained in folder. Fine. Original green paper folder. Quarto. Slight soiling to folder with subtle crease to top right corner. Onlay Charles Van Sandwyk Artist Card as title (slightly rippled from being glued down). Loosely inside are 11 beautiful bookmarks of various sizes, shapes and formats, each signed by Van Sandwyk individually, as well as all 6 of Van Sandwyk's past business cards (also individually signed).

All marks and cards are in excellent condition. A fantastic collection of signed Van Sandwyk ephemera which shows a lovely progression of some of the past images and themes of his work. Many of the bookmarks and business cards contain illustrations of animals, magical creatures or whimsical quotations.

Genuine Fairy Money #134021 -SIGNED           SOLD  

Small beige envelope 2.4" X 3.5" (6 X 8.5 CM) containing five notes of fairy money. Envelope has a small etching of a fairy head on front cover with "Genuine Fairy Money" written beneath. Inside Charles has written "Now don't spend it all at once, young fellowe..." and has signed it beneath. The 5 notes measure 2" X 2.75" (5.25 X 7 CM) and made of textured beige paper. Two of the notes are decorated with an etched image of a baby fairy in a circular frame and say "Once bunch of faery money. Goose ~ berries". Two more show an image of a bird and a nest and say "Good for birds eggs by the dozen". On the last is written "This note is worthy of the equivalent of one basket of mushrooms" with decorations surrounding the lettering.

A wonderful, whimsical and magical little Van Sandwyk treasure.

The Seymour Art Gallery (2002). 7" X 13" on thick card. Front is dark green with three pasted on images of mice. Surrounding the images are illustrations of pictures frames and other mice we are viewing the art. The opposite side contains details regarding the opening, the reading, tickets and a map. There is another illustration showing a landscape and a small mouse with a backpack. The invitation is signed near the map to the gallery by Charles Van Sandwyk in black ink.

Very rare. [11 pp]. The Fairy Press (A Division of Charles Van Sandwyk Fine Arts). Octavo. 10 X 13cm (4X 5"). Bound in original green stiff paper boards (wrap around). Paste down title and illustration of mice on front cover and on title page. Illustration on inside of wrappers. Accordion style fold-out with illustrations and writing on one side. 11 pages with writing and illustrations separated by folds. A lovely little book.

Accompanied by a  large press proof page on unique paper. Page measures 13.5" X 20" and is printed on one side with the same images, and in the same quality, as in the book itself. The page is signed at the center by Van Sandwyk. Both the book and press proof are signed. Scarce.

Animal Wisdom 12-Month Calendar #131546 -INSCRIBED          

Oblong octavo. Illustrated with 7 tipped in plates from beautifully coloured paintings of animals from Van Sandwyk's book 'Animal Wisdom' (plus one on front cover). Dark blue cover with gilt lettering and decoration. Thick card pages in deep colours. Calendar is from the year 2000 and has two months per page. No writing inside save for inscription. Light rubbing to back cover. Bound with green string. A lovely collection of images.

Inscription reads "To Greta and Ariana, Charles Van Sandwyk" and is written in black pen below the plate on the last page.

Also comes with 13.5" X 20" illustrated map of Tavewa (dream) island (signed), 13.5" X 20" press proof page which is printed on both sides with the images used in the book upon unique paper (also signed) and a decorative folder with paste-down image of a parrot containing 13 postcards with reproductions of Van Sandwyk watercolours. On the back of the postcards it reads 'Greetings from Sunny Fiji'.

A beautiful book contrasted beautifully by several interesting pieces of Van Sandwyk ephemera all relating to Fiji, Charles's second home.
